Breaches of obligations were like a hobby
(České Budějovice, May 23, 2011) From May 11 to May 15, fans of gardening and gadgetry of all kinds met to learn about news at a traditional exhibition “All for spare time and garden” Hobby Spring 2011 at the Výstaviště in České Budějovice. And because at the exhibition it is possible to buy plants and various technical devices, plant and animal products, candies and refreshments or to participate in sale presentations of consumer goods, CTIA inspectors were among visitors again. Out of 60 controls they detected defects in 20 cases, i.e. in each third seller.
With regard to the national significance of this event and the broad offer of services in the frame of the accompanying programme, the Hobby exhibitions are regularly included in the plan of control activities of the Jihočeský and Vysočina Inspectorate. Controls were focused on stall sale of consumer goods and refreshments, namely on abidance with obligations defined by the Act on Consumer Protection, Act on Technical Requirements for Products and Act on General Safety of Products.

In the frame of this year’s Hobby exhibition, 60 controls were carried out and in 20 of them breaches of obligations were found.

Taken action:
- Ban of sale was issued on 66 pieces of products in the total value of CZK 28,756
- 8 fines were imposed in the total amount of CZK 7,500 for minor infringements of the Act on Consumer Protection
- 12 fines were issued at the spot in the total amount of CZK 12,000
