Control at the Hobby Exhibition - Autumn 2010

(Prague, November 3, 2010) In the days from October 14 to October 17, 2010, the Jihočeský and Vysočina Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed a control activity at Výstaviště České Budějovice when the exhibition for gardeners, free time and garden – Hobby – Autumn 2010 was held.

The exhibition is traditionally focused on crop products and livestock products and also on presentations of consumer goods, candies and refreshments. With regard to the significance of the event and to the extent of sale and provision of services in the frame of the additional programme, the Hobby Exhibition is regularly a part of the control activities schedule of the CTI Inspectorate.

 

The controls are, in relation to the offered assortment and provision of services, focused especially on stalls sale of consumer goods and refreshments, both in the sense of the Act on Consumer Protection and the Act on Technical Requirements for Products and Act on General Safety.

 

In the frame of this year’s exhibition, in total 24 controls were performed and infringements of laws were detected in 9 of them, i.e. in 37.5%. Among the infringements belonged using non-certified measure, overpricing, not abiding with informational obligations. For example: In one case, informational obligations were not abided with within a stall sale of bed linen. During the control, information of the way of use and the material composition were not provided in any way.

 

In the frame of the issued measures, ban on sale was issued in the total amount of CZK 16,244. Also 2 sanctions were issued in the total amount of CZK 2,000 and 7 fines were issued at the inspection location in the total amount of CZK 7,000.
