Control on keeping the level of provided services in car repair workplaces

(Prague, July 7, 2010) In the period from May 1 to June 30, 2010, the Středočeský and Prague Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed a control on subject providing services in repair of motor on-road vehicles.

The CTI inspectors performed 15 controls in total in car repair premises. The total number of controls included 9 physical persons and 6 legal persons. Infringements of the Act on Consumer Protection were detected in 2 physical persons and 1 legal person, i.e. 20% of the total number of the controlled premises. In one physical person, the sales person claimed wrong information on the VAT percentage and in one legal person, the sales person an important data which – with regard to all circumstances – can be rightly requested from the entrepreneur. One saes person did not properly inform the consumer on the price of a weight and at the RTF, only information on an extra charge of 50%. In one premises of a physical person, the service provider did not give out any confirmation of the order takeover (the service was not provided while on waits).

Due to the mentioned infringement of the Act on Consumer Protection, in one case of a physical person a fine was issued at the inspection location in the amount of 3,000 CZK. In two cases launching administrative proceedings will be suggested.

With regard to a low number of detected defects, the control activity concerning keeping the level of provided services in car repair premises was evaluated as successful, also in the context of prevention against deficiencies,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
