Dangerous toy - Plush leopard powered by batteries

(Prague, October 30, 2009), the Czech Trade Inspection Authority discovered that dangerous product is being sold on the Czech market.

It is a laying plush leopard powered by batteries, equipped with a zipper on his belly. In the leopard belly behind the zipper, you will find a space for 3 pieces of A-type batteries and a speaker emitting various sounds. The toy does not have the CE symbol or graphical warning symbol specifying the age group. The toy has a sewn-in label, specifying that the country of origin is China.

 

The toy poses inhalation hazard as the inner stuffing material (polyester) may be inhaled or swallowed because it is easily accessible when the zipper is open. The stuffing may be easily taken out of the toy. The space where the batteries are stored is easily accessible only by opening the zipper and without the need to use any tools. Batteries are stored in an open case and placed directly inside the soft stuffing.

 

The CTIA issued the applicable corrective measures prohibiting the introduction and sale of this product on the market, the product must be recalled and the applicable party must inform consumers immediately about the relevant dangers that this toy poses to persons who may come in contact with this product.
