Observing and monitoring of fuels quality in November 2010

(Prague, December 16, 2010) In November 2010, the Czech Trade Inspection performed another regular control of fuels quality. Out of the total number of 152 samples collected in November 2010, 9 samples did not meet quality standards requirements, i.e. 5.9%.

CONTROL’S OBJECTIVE:

Observing and monitoring of fuels’ quality on the territory of the Czech Republic in accordance with the statue of the section 7, par. 2a of the law No. 311/2006 Coll., the Fuel Regulations, and notice No. 133/2010 Coll.

SUBJECTS TO CONTROL:
Fuel stations on the territory of the Czech Republic.

OBJECT OF THE CONTROL:

Collecting samples of fuels (motor petrol, motor oil, mixed fuel, bio fuel, LPG, CNG and Ethanol E85) and controlling their quality. The CTI checked abiding of rule No. 3 item 1 of the law No. 311/2006 Coll., the Fuel Regulations.

CONTROL RESULTS:

Out of total 152 samples collected in November 2010 there were 9 samples that did not meet the requirements, i.e. 5.9%.

In November, defects were found in motor oil samples and mixed fuel SMN 30 samples. Out of the 70 controlled motor oil samples 7 samples (10.0%) did not meet requirements. In 4 samples (5.7%), deviation in flash point was detected. In 2 samples (2.9%) defects were found in the quality indicator “distillation test” (“95% distillates at temperature” and “distilled content at 350°C”). In 1 case (1.4%), the sample did not meet requirements in fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content.

Out 4 collected samples of mixed fuel SMN 30, 2 samples (50.0%) did not meet quality standard’s requirements. One sample (25.0%) showed deviation in flash point and in one case (25.0%), defect was found in fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content.

Results according to the types of fuels, including detected unsatisfactory criteria, are available in the attachment No 1; the attachment No 2 contains values of unsatisfactory quality indicators and in the attachment No 3 is the overview of unsatisfactory samples with the date of collection, the No of the particular sample and marked unsatisfactory quality parameters.

In November, violating the upper acceptable level of bio ingredients’ content in fuels was detected in 1 motor oil sample. The detected maximal content of fatty acid methyl ester in motor oil is 11.1%. In motor petrol, the upper acceptable level was not violated.

Analysis of the collected samples showed deviations in quality standards in 7 samples of motor oil and 2 samples of mixed fuel SMN 30. In November, 5.9% of samples were unsatisfactory. 15 collected samples of LPG, 2 samples of compressed natural gas (CNG) and 1 sample of Ethanol E85 met the quality standard’s requirements.
