In June and July, inspectors focused on distributors and sellers of hardware products and tools for handymen. The objective of the controls was to check conditions under which hardware goods and hobby tools for handymen are sold. Infringements were found in 5 out of 13 checked workplaces.
In 2 cases, goods were not marked with price tags and information about prices was not provided in any other way. Incorrect billing of a purchase of control was detected in one case – the overall difference in prices of two products was CZK 28 against the consumer. Two sellers used uncertified measuring tools.
In three cases, inspectors found that information on features of products sold, on the way of their use and on risks resulting from incorrect use of products were not provided or that this information was not provided in Czech.
Within a control of offered machinery according to the Act on Technical Requirements for Products (Act No. 22/1997 Coll.), two distributors did not provide documents concerning acquisition of products sold and the provided documentation did not contain the EC declaration of conformity. In one case a product did not correspond with the attached manual, manuals in Czech were missing or in another case, translation did not correspond with the original manual.
Investigation is still in progress in 2 cases and administrative proceedings will be launched subsequently. Other 3 companies were imposed fines at the spot and ban on use of weighs was issued in 2 cases.
