Controls were performed at stall sellers of drinks, i.e. in chain stores and other workplaces with particular assortment and at persons introducing packages to the market (producers and importers of packages).

In total 435 workplaces were controlled. At persons introducing packages to circulation (at sellers) 429 controls were performed (98.6%) on fulfilment of requirements concerning sale of drinks in returnable buy back packages (further on referred to as VZO) and 6 (1.4%) controls at persons introducing packages to the market.

With regard to the Act on Packaging, deficiencies were found in 17 controlled workplaces, i.e. 3.9% of the total number of controlled workplaces. It was infringement of the duty to offer the same drinks in returnable buy back packages when selling such drinks in non-returnable packages on the premises of 200m2 or larger.

Controls on abidance with obligations at producers and importers were performed at 6 workplaces in total, i.e. 1.4%. In 2 producers and 2 importers no law infringement was detected. In the other 2 subjects, examination is still in progress. 4 of these controls were performed in cooperation with the Czech Environmental Inspection (3 at producers and 1 at an importer).

Within the frame of controls concerning abidance with requirements of the Act on Packaging, further infringements of the Consumer Protection Act were detected in 125 (i.e. 28.7%) controlled persons. Most frequently it was due to law infringement when, in the time of control, the seller did not inform the consumer on the amount of money for buy back of VZO and when information on the price of the returnable packaging was missing at drink sold in the VZO.

Within the second trimester infringements were detected of duties in accordance with the Act on Packaging in selling persons and producers and duties concerning the buy-back of returnable packages in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act. The detected deficiencies are grounds for launching administrative proceedings. Furthermore, in 39 cases fines were issued at the inspection location in the amount of CZK 48,000.
