Sellers breached laws at the Svět Dětí fair
(Hradec Králové, May 24, 2011) Inspectors of the CTIA focus also on various sales exhibitions and fairs, above all on those where visitors have the opportunity to buy exhibited products. This was the case of the Congress, Exhibition and Society Centre Aldis in Hradec Králové during the Svět Dětí fair (Children’s World). Deficiencies were found in 3 of 11 controlled sellers. In one case, administrative proceedings will be launched and two sellers will be subjects to further investigations.
The control’s objective was to check if laws are infringed within the sale of toys and products designed for children during the fair. Inspectors found the following three cases of breaches:
- Not informing consumer about prices of textile for babies and children; the seller provided only list of wholesale prices
- Missing information on the way of a baby-coach’s use; concretely: manual for the first build-up, manual for assembly, decomposition and alert warnings according to ČSN EN 1888:2003
- Within a control of a baby bed, distance was measured 200 mm between the upper side of the bed and the upper edge of the side part, respectively the bed front, despite the standard defines required distance 300 mm (and the product’s manual informs about the same). Due to the shorter distance 200 mm, the baby bed is a dangerous product – a baby might fall out of this baby bed. With regard to the serious finding, further investigation will be carried out at the manufacturer.
