During April, May and June of this year, the inspectors of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on castles, historical mansions, museums and galleries. The purpose of the inspection was to determine, whether charges for services and prices for goods comply with the applicable law and whether correct prices are introduced to consumers.
Further, the inspection focused on the fact, whether sales receipts are given to the consumers, whether consumers are being discriminated or not and whether the applicable business or store informs the consumer about the nature and the scope of the offered services.
Shortcomings and deficiencies were discovered in 8 stores/businesses. The most frequent violation was the failure to inform the consumer about the price in accordance with applicable pricing regulations.
In all 8 cases the CTIA issued applicable fines and sanctions. In 4 cases, the CTIA issued fines payable immediately in the total amount of CZK 3,000,- and in the remaining 4 cases, the CTIA will begin relevant legal proceedings. Further, the CTIA prohibited 16 types of goods (108 pieces of goods) from sale, in the total amount of CZK 4,420,-.
"Inspections will continue during the main tourist season" said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the General Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
