Stodolní: 60% facilities failed CTIA controls
(April 28, 2011, Ostrava and Kladno) By the end of the last week, the CTIA carried out controls at 37 restaurants, bars, discos and night clubs at the Stodolní Street in Ostrava and detected defects in 22 sellers. The action took place in afternoons, evenings and nights and for the night controls the inspectors were accompanied by members of the Police of the Czech Republic. Another control held before Easter showed defects at two disco clubs in Kladno.
At the famous Ostrava’s street of entertainment, inspectors focused on the level of provided services, above all on fairness of sale. Infringements of one or more statutes of the Act on Consumer Protection were found in 22 sellers, i.e. 59.5%. The infringements were as such: unfairness of sale of products and provision of services (10 times), not giving out any bill of purchase (5 times) and using uncertified measuring tools (5 times).

In 9 cases, fines for breaches of the Act on Consumer Protection were imposed at the spot in the total amount of CZK 14,000. Administrative proceedings will be launched with 13 controlled persons. Ban on use of 5 pieces of measuring tools without any certification was issued until remedy.

During the control in Kladno carried out together with the Police of the Czech Republic, the CTIA inspectors also proved unfairness of sale at two disco clubs. In the first case, ice was put in two campari drinks of control thus it was not possible to check the correct amount of the drink. In the second case, controlled alcoholic drinks were not served in the declared amount – in both cases, the drinks were served in 4 cl glasses instead of 5 cl glasses. Administrative proceedings will be launched with the checked subjects.
