These batteries may, under certain conditions overheat due to inner shortcuts, and cause fire. Therefore, GN Netcom recommends to all its customers to disconnect the applicable product from the wall power outlet and stop using it immediately.
“Product safety is our number one priority. We have sold more than million appliances worldwide and received less than 50 reports. Nevertheless, GN Netcom decided to initiate battery exchange program to comply with safety measures and to eliminate other defective announcements and reports. We have also changed the supplier, as well as the battery type used in the model GN9120,“ said Mr.Toon Bouten, the CEO and president of GN Netcom.
Batteries used in wireless headsets that have been sold since January 2005 until September 2008 must be replaced. These products are used in offices and call centres and were mostly sold through distributors and sellers. The above-mentioned batteries have plastic cover and bear sentence „Made by ATL (Amperex Technology Ltd.)“ and „(ATL P/N 603028)“. Also, these batteries were sold as spare parts with marking/sentence „Sada náhradní baterie GN9120“(set of spare batteries GN9120). This battery exchange program applies only to headsets model GN9120, were these specific ATL batteries were used.
GN Netcom is asking its customers to visit webpage at www.jabra.com/battery, where they can find more information and where they can order spare batteries free of charge.
“We are doing all we can in order to ensure quick exchange and are very sorry for any inconveniences that may have been caused due to this problem,“ said Mr.Toon Bouten.
More information about the battery exchange program may be found at www.jabra.com/battery.
