The CTI has banned the sale of a light chain.
(Prague, March 25, 2009), the Czech Trade Inspectorate found out about a dangerous product sold on the Czech market, which poses risk of injuries by electric shock and fire burns.
It is a light chain, no brand name, model 140L MINIATURE LIGHTS, an open light chain with LED diodes, designed for indoor use. The name of the manufacturer or distributor is missing. Product is originally from
The product have several constructional deficiencies - Insufficient cross-section of inner wires, the used wires have only basic insulation and may be touched, the light chain does not have warning label saying “Danger. Risk of injury by electric shock”, the dimensions of P2 fork (secure pin/contact is missing), are not within the specified limits/tolerances, live parts of the fork are accessible when inserting into power outlet, the cover of the control unit has sharp edges and insufficient length of power cable. These defects may cause serious injury by electric shock, burns or even fire of the product.
The Czech Trade Inspectorate forbade this product from sale or from being introduced to the market, ordered recall of this product from the market and established the applicable responsibility to inform consumers about dangerous nature of this product.
