The Czech Trade Inspectorate banned a dangerous ski helmet from sales

Based on notification, received from the European warning system RAPEX, the Czech Trade Inspectorate discovered that a dangerous consumer product is being sold in the Czech Republic. This product has been classified as high risk item and therefore, declared as a dangerous.

Dangerous issues:

Based on the laboratory test report, it has been determined that this product does not comply with the required strength regulations and with applicable regulations specifying how the helmet insert must be fastened to inside of the helmet.

 

The test report specifies that during the testing, the chin belt came out of its mount located inside the helmet skeleton. During other test, the helmet came off from the dummy head used throughout the testing. Therefore it has been determined that in case of a fall, the helmet may slip off the head and thus not providing any protection to the skier.

 

Market protection:

The Czech Trade Inspectorate banned this dangerous product from sale.
