It is a children´s bicycle Trek Mystic 16“ serial number: WTU 282PO463D, which does not comply with applicable safety requirements. Handles of the handlebar are equipped with covered ends with diameter of 31 mm, instead of the required 40 mm (at least). The bicycle chain and the chain gear are fully covered on the outer side but not on the inside (the requirement specifies that the chain cover must cover the entire outer side of the chain, chain gear and the rear chain gear, the inner side of the gears and chain, as well as parts where the chain comes in contact with gears).
It is very likely that when riding this bicycle, clothing, shoe laces or fingers may get caught in the chain, because the chain is not properly covered.
This may cause a fall of the riding user. If, due to the insufficient diameter or width of the handlebar ends, the rider´s hand slips out while riding the bicycle, most certainly the rider would fall and most likely would injure himself/herself (danger of bodily injuries). Therefore, this product represents a real danger during common use.
The CTI prohibited sale of the above-mention product and the distributor accepted applicable measures and recalled this product from the market,“ said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the General director of the Czech Trade Inspectorate.
