Risky products: Wooden pull centipede
(Prague, June 2, 2011) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority found out that in the internal market a wooden toy is offered which poses a risk to children. It is a pull centipede. CTIA banned selling of the mentioned product and its distributor subsequently took action and withdrew the products from the market.

What are the risks?

Danger of garrotte caused by the toy’s cord which may make a loop around child’s neck. The measured loose length of the cord is 760 mm (the appropriate standard’s requirement is 220 mm).
Danger of swallowing or breathing in of small wooden balls that all fit in a small parts testing tube. These wooden balls with 15 mm at average (tight to wheels) and with 9 mm (tight on feelers) loosened within a draw test
Also when using the product in a common and predicted way it is possible that a situation may occur when a child can get hurt.
