EVALUATION:
Test results revealed that properties of the above-mentioned product do no comply with requirements included in ČSN EN 14765:2006, which specifies brake efficiency standards, handlebar standards, handlebar column, fatigue tests, handlebar and handle column assembly tests, seat dimensions and seat assembly tests, seat assembly fatigue tests and chain cover requirements.
Risk analysis showed that during common and predictable use, this product poses serious health and safety risks to children. Therefore, this product was declared as dangerous.
DISCOVERED DEFECTS:
- screws - minimum torque recommended by the manufacture is missing. Results obtained from brake efficiency tests did not comply with requirements
- handlebar ends did not withstand the minimum force of 70 N and they broke in. Diameter of the covered end is only
- handlebar and column assembly- fatigue stress test - during the first testing phase, the column broke down after 8,297 cycles already, instead after the required 100 000 cycles
- seat and seat assembly – incorrect dimensions. During fatigue stress test a metal sheet mount broke off after approximately 150 cycles, instead of the required 100 000 cycles. This metal sheet mount connects the seat with the seat assembly. Chain cover does not cover the inside of the chain, the gear and points where the chain meets the gear, as required.
APPLIED MEASURES:
Effective immediately, the CTI banned this product from sale and from introducing this product to market. Applicable product recall was also issued.
