Water toys contained phthalates! (Partial report of the third quarter of 2011)
(Prague, November 8, 2011) Summer ended, but people still can use water toys designed for swimming that contain phthalates as the controls carried out by the Czech Trade Inspection Authority proved. Within 90 controls, 8 products were selected for laboratory assessment because they were suspected to pose risks to children’s health due to their inconvenient mechanical and physical features. The suspicion has been proven to be true in 7 of the taken samples so far – they contained excessive amount of phthalates in the rate of 6.1% to 12.2% while the maximal allowed amount is 0.1%. Defects were found in totally 36 controlled subjects. Apart from bans of sale and actions taken to remedy, 16 fines in the total amount of CZK 18,000 were imposed; other administrative proceedings are still processed. Přílohy |
