The purpose of this report, that was initiated by the ECC in Germany, is to highlight the relevant information concerning travelling in EU countries, as well as Iceland and Norway, and to provide consumers with a quick orientation when they run into difficulties.
This brochure [PDF, 1 MB] will provide you with information about tourism in Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia. You will find practical advice and important legal information covering the different topics. The participants of this joint project have tried to include the relevant information concerning consumer protection when travelling to above mentioned countries. The information provided is not fully detailed on all points and should be viewed as a guide not as a verbatim statement of the law.

Background information:
THE EUROPEAN CONSUMER CENTRES` (ECC) Network consists of centres in 27 European countries as well as Iceland and Norway, and is co—financed by the Health and consumer Protection Directorate-General of the European Commission and each of the member countries.
The aim of the Network is to create consumer confidence in the internal market by providing consumers with information on their rights within the European Union and giving advice and assistance in the resolution of their cross-border complaints and disputes.
As part of their work, the European Consumer Centres carry out information campaigns designed to educate consumers of their rights, publish information materials and websites, give presentations and talks, answer consumers´ questions about their rights under European legislation, and assist them in the resolution of cross-border disputes. They offer feedback information to the European Commission based on its practical experience of case handling.
