Children´s bicycle Leader Fox 16

(Prague, June 10, 2009), the Czech Trade Inspectorate discovered that a dangerous consumer product is being sold on the Czech market. This product represents a serious danger mainly for small children.

This product will be reported to the international warning system RAPEX.

It is a children’s bicycle Leader Fox 16“, YPO 7120934. This product does not comply with applicable safety standards. The handlebar rod has an incorrect label, which can be hardly seen and does not have a reliable stopper.

The seat rod also has an incorrect label, which can be hardly seen and does not have a reliable stopper either. This bicycle is equipped with unsuitable outer and inner chain cover. User´s manual is missing several required and necessary information. The product is marked with the number of the applicable standard/norm, describing mountain bikes regulations.

 

It is very likely that when riding this bicycle, clothing, shoe laces or fingers may get caught by the chain, because the chain is not properly covered. This may also cause fall of the riding user. Additional risks include: insufficient insertion of the handlebar rod inside the fork column, insufficient insertion of the seat rod inside the bicycle frame. These defects may cause unexpected release of the handlebars or the seat rod during the ride and consequently, the fall of the rider, resulting in injuries. Therefore, this product represents a real danger during common use.

 

The Czech Trade Inspectorate prohibited the seller from selling this dangerous product. Additional measures will be applied at the manufacturer location.
