Control of premises at hospital facilities
(Prague, 22. April 2011) In the frame of an extraordinary action, the Středočeský and Prague Inspectorate of the CTIA focused on premises with refreshment and other assortment in the areas of hospital facilities. Patients are dependent on their services in the time of their hospitalization or expert examination.
The aim of this control was to check abidance with obligations defined by the Act on Consumer Protection in workplaces in 20 areas of hospital facilities in Prague and the Central bohemia Region (Středočeský kraj). In the frame of the control action overall 31 controls were carried out and inspectors found infringement of one or more provisions of laws in 17 of them (i.e. 52.7%).

Most frequent infringements:
Breaching fairness of sale of products and provision of services – 10 times
Missing information about price in compliance with pricing legislation – 8 times
Not giving out any bill of purchase of a product or provision of a service with all belongings – 5 times
Using uncertified measuring tools – 5 times

3 fines were imposed at the spot in the total amount of CZK 3,000 for breaching the Act on Consumer Protection. Administrative proceedings were launched with 9 checked persons and 4 cases are being resolved. 1 fine in the total amount of CZK 1,000 was issued at the spot for using an uncertified measuring tool (infringement of the Act on CTIA) and in 5 cases, ban on using uncertified measuring tools was issued until remedy. 

The results of the control action in the frame of the Central Bohemia Region and the capital of Prague proved that in shops operated in the areas of hospital facilities legal obligations are infringed and consumer rights are breached. Activities of these shops will be observed and checked in the future.
