Control of Taxi Services - third trimester

(Prague, November 1, 2010) In the period from July 1 to September 30, 2010, the Czech Trade Inspection performed another regular control of taxi services on the territory of the Czech Republic. The aim of the control was to check the fairness of services provided by subjects operating business of taxi services (or on-road motor personal transport, so called contract transport).

On the territory of the Czech Republic, in the third trimester 2010 there were 76 controls performed in total in the frame of the activity Taxi Services. Infringements of laws were detected within 26 controls in total, i.e. 34% of all the performed controls.

 

The most frequent violation of obligation defined by the Act on Consumer Protection was in 13 cases the infringement when the service provider did not inform the consumer in compliance with regulations on pricing of the provided services price or the information was incomplete or insufficient in another way. In 3 cases, the given receipt of the provided service did not contain defined requirements. In 2 cases, the price was overpriced (in one case the overpricing concerned CZK 42 and in the second case we even speak about CZK 138). In 1 case, unfair commercial practise was detected. Other infringements concerned deficiencies in the sense of statutes Act on Road Transportation and these findings were transferred to the competent supervisory bodies.

 

In 1 case, ban on using uncertified measuring tool (taximeter) was issued. In 9 cases of detected laws infringements, administrative proceedings will be launched with the controlled persons and in 10 cases, fines at the inspection location were issued. Furthermore, in 8 cases, infringements of obligations defined by the Act on Road Transportation were announced to the competent traffic offices.
