Control performed at the Automobilová Burza marketplace in Ostrava-Vítkovice

(Prague, June 28, 2010) On Sunday June 6, 2010, the Moravskoslezský and Olomoucký Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed a control in the shopping mall in Místecká Street in Ostrava–Vítkovice. The objective of the control was to check if there are any infringements of applicable legislation when selling products and offering services in the shopping mall of the so called “Automobilová burza”.

The control was performed in cooperation with employees of the Alien Police at 5 vendors in total who run stall sale. Infringements were detected at 4 of them, i.e. in 80%. In total 2 vendors did not give out any bill on the goods purchase with all requested information even though the consumer asked for it within the control. In one case the seller offered, sold and stocked products infringing some intellectual property rights (i.e. forgeries), moreover without any trading licence. One vendor did not provide that the products he sells are equipped with a manual in Czech and safety information in Czech about dangers when using the product not in an appropriate way. And in one case sale was detected of 7 kinds of lighters not in compliance with requirements of the Act on General Safety of Products.

 

In the frame of issued measures, the CTI inspectors confiscated and took away from the controls persons 22 kinds/65 pieces of fakes in the total amount of 97,520 CZK. Ban of sale was issued on 20 pieces of goods in the total amount of 2,500 CZK that did not meet requirements of special legal regulations until good making. In 3 cases the detected deficiencies will be objects to administrative proceedings. Two vendors were issued a fine at the inspection location in the total amount of 2,000 CZK and in one case (sale without any trading license) the deficiency was announced to the particular Trade Licensing Office.

 

The employees of the Alien Police Inspectorate controlled 39 persons in total (including 7 foreigners) to check foreigners’ mode of stay, to detect using illegal travel documents and search for wanted and missing persons. One foreigner did not have any proper health insurance and was issued a fine.

 

“With regard to the persisting appearance of deficiencies and the high percentage of infringements of laws in the field, controls with the same focus will still be a part of the plan of control events,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
