Controls in the frame of organizing cultural and sports events
Prague, August 24, 2010) During this year, the Moravskoslezský and Olomoucký Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed 106 controls focused on abidance with duties of sellers in the frame of organizing cultural and sports events (music festivals, wakes, sport matches, exhibitions, fairs and so forth).

Out of the performed 106 controls, defects were found in 61 sellers, i.e. in 57.6%. The most frequent deficiencies were not observing the declared amount of drinks and meals’ weight, which was in 17 cases in total; also in 17 cases, sellers used uncertified measures when selling products. Among other deficiencies were: sellers did not inform consumers about product prices in the sale offer; entrepreneurs did not mark their stalls in the imposed way; sellers did not give out receipt on product purchase after consumer’s request; sold textile products, shoes and toys were not marked with defined information; in 1 case consumer was harmed by incorrect billing and in o1 case the seller carried on business without any trading licence.

 

For the mentioned violations, 29 fines were issued at the inspection location in the total amount of CZK 42,000; also 15 sanctions were issued in the amount of CZK 10,500. In other cases, sanctions were issued in administrative proceedings in the total amount of CZK 45,000.

 

“Controls at such events will, of course, continue in the same extent also in the following period,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
