Controls of sale of cigarettes and tobacco products (Interim report of the second quarter of 2011)
(Prague, September 9, 2011) Within controls focused on tobacco products, the CTIA inspectors examined 548 workplaces in total and found breaches of one or more obligations as provided by law in 216 cases, i.e. 39.4% of controls. Infringements of the Act on excise duties were found in 41 cases; however infringements of the Act on Consumer Protection were much more frequent. Failures to provide information about offered products’ and services’ prices belonged to the most frequent breaches (in 65 cases) the same as failures to provide information concerning products and their marking (in 70 cases). So far, 138 fines in the total amount of CZK 315,400 were imposed.
