Controls of the CTI at the D1 highway

Prague, June 22, 2010) On July 13, 2010, the Czech Trade Inspection performed an extensive control at the D highway. Within the control, premises selling products and offering services at parking places and commercial plots contiguous to the D1 highway. In total 36 inspectors of the Czech Trade Inspection participated in the activity and focused on the control of all range of goods within the CTI supervisory competence.

The inspectors controlled 54 premises in total and detected defects in 27 cases. One of the most frequent defects were for example billing 10 CZK higher amount of money than the consumer was informed about; weighing lower weight than declared; using non-certified measures, not informing about the price and so forth. Simultaneously, also deficiencies in the area of technical control were detected – for example some used petrol dispensing pump did not meet law requirements or some offered car jacks that also did not meet legal requirements for being introduced to the market if the Czech Republic.

“In 11 cases, operators were fined at the inspection location in the total amount of 16,500 CZK. 16 cases will be resolved in administrative proceedings where higher sanctions will be issued. Considering the results of the control’s results, we will repeat such controls in the future,” said Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
