CTI informs about a dangerous light chain 140 Twinkle Lights

(Prague, March 24, 2009), the Czech Trade Inspectorate found out about a dangerous product sold on the Czech market, which poses risk of injuries by electric shock and fire burns.

It is a light chain model 140 Twinkle Lights, Item: 885140F, imported by D.C.Star s.r.o, from China.

 

The above-mentioned product has several constructional deficiencies - insufficient size of cross-section of inner wires, insufficient wire protection (connection secured by soldering only), unacceptable flexural tension (relevant to the electronic unit), dimension of fork plug does not comply with the applicable tolerances, insufficient length of the power cable, exposed live electrical pins of the power plug may be touched when connecting/plugging the fork into the wall power outlet, wires of the light chain have only basic insulation - which may cause injuries by electric shock or even fires.

 

The Czech Trade Inspectorate prohibited this product from sale and from being further introduced to the market, ordered recall of this product from the market and established the applicable responsibility to inform consumers about the dangerous nature of this product.
