Dangerous product - imitation of a strawberry
(Prague, June 16, 2010) The Czech Trade Inspection detected that on the market of the Czech Republic a product is offered to consumers that is very dangerous especially to children.

It is a realistic imitation of a whole strawberry made of polystyrene and easily interchangeable with groceries (fruits) due to its outfit, size, shape and colour.

Realistic imitations of fruits were sold freely without any package. In the time of the control, the products were not equipped with any information on producer, importer or supplier. They were not equipped with any information on the product use.

When being offered, the products were placed in a basket and the product “strawberry” was marked with a 3 CZK selling price tag.

The performed product’s examination detected that children can separate (bite off) small parts, i.e. green calyx, and put them in mouth which is of high risk of suffocation and digestive tract problems. The product’s consummation and related complications are supposed to appear especially in persons with lower ability to distinguish, especially in children.

In the context of the detected facts, we can say that the examined product has features of a product dangerous due to its interchangeability with groceries. This was the reason why the Czech Trade Inspection issued measures to withdraw the particular product from the market.
