The most frequent violations (37 cases), were failures to comply with the responsibility to inform the consumer about the price for the ordered taxi services, as described by the applicable law. Further, the inspectors of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority discovered unfair business practices (5 cases), incorrect charging (4 cases) and in 3 cases the consumer did not receive the applicable receipt. Also the road transportation law was violated in 16 cases.
In 13 cases, inspectors issued fines payable immediately, in the total amount of CZK 19,000,-. In 20 cases, the relevant legal proceedings against the responsible parties will be initiated. One person did not use officially tested and verified taximeter and the CTIA banned this instrument from use until corrected. Discovered violations in connection with obligations and responsibilities described by the road transportation law, have been forwarded to the relevant Transportation Department or to the applicable Licensing office.
“Taxi services are widely used by all consumers but mainly by foreign consumers. During the following months the tourist season will be at its peak and therefore it is necessary to continue with these inspections. The increasing number of violations proves my point", said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the General Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
