Inspection activities performed at Svatá Kateřina market place

(Prague, November 4, 2009), on November 1, 2009, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority performed inspection at the Svatá Kateřina market place. Also the Customs authorities and the Foreign police of the Czech Republic were involved in this event. Inspectors were focusing mainly on kiosks and counterfeited goods.

Inspectors checked 16 kiosks and in two kiosks they confiscated 179 Compact discs and 114 pieces of counterfeited textile goods. In non-public storage spaces, Customs officers confiscated a total of 3.808 pieces of counterfeited goods, in the total amount of CZK 6.014 479,-.

The total number of all confiscated products was 3.979 pieces of fake products, in the total amount of CZK 6.315 479,-.

Further, inspections revealed that sold goods were not equipped with price tags, neither with labels specifying the used textile materials. This concerned mainly textile products and shoes. Total of 8 fines payable immediately were issued. Additional 7 cases will be solved through the applicable legal proceedings. One case of firework products sale was forwarded to the applicable authority for further processing.
