The purpose of this inspection was to find out whether products not complying with the applicable intellectual properties laws and other consumer protection regulations, as well as with regulations described in the Czech trade inspection law and other applicable and safety regulations, are sold or stored.
Total of 24 sellers, selling shoes, textiles, clothing, glass, leather clothing, household goods and artificial flowers have been inspected.
Shortcomings or failures to comply with the applicable laws were found in 21 cases, which represent 87.7% from all inspected sellers.
- 17 sellers did not inform the consumer about the offered product prices at all.
- in 4 cases, purchase receipts missing all necessary information were issued, when asked by the consumer
- in 2 cases, sellers did not mark their textile products with necessary information
- in 1 case, the seller did not inform the consumer about possibilities to claim defective products, when the provided warranty period was shorter than 24 months.
in 1 case, the seller did not let the consumer to check whether the correct amount of goods was sold to him, because the shop did not have the proper and certified measuring apparatus available.
Products that did not comply with the necessary product regulations were forbidden from use. These products represented value in the amount of CZK 3.339,-.
Four discovered shortcomings will be forwarded to the applicable court of law for further processing.
For failure to comply with the applicable consumer protection law, a total of 17 fines were issued, totalling CZK 16 500,-.
"Inspection did not reveal counterfeited goods in warehouses or on sale, but thanks to other lasting shortcomings, similar inspections and inspection events will continue in the future, " said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the General Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
