(Prague, July 23, 2009). On July 16, 2009, the CTIA performed inspections in the South Moravian region called Hatě, focusing on the sale, offers and storage of goods, which may violate some regulations of intellectual property rights.
These inspection events have been done in cooperation with the police of the Czech Republic - the Inspectorate of the Foreign police in Znojmo. “These inspections revealed 497 types of counterfeited goods, such as clothing, shoes and leather products in the total amount of CZK 697,390,-", said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the General Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
After the relevant persons have been identified and after applicable expert evaluations are produced, confirming the counterfeited world-known brands, the CTIA will initiate applicable legal proceedings against these persons. The applicable court should decide about the amount of fines, about the way of the goods disposal, or whether these goods will be turned over to humanitarian organizations.
