International Film Festival Karlovy Vary 2010

(Prague, July 9, 2010) The same as every year the Czech Trade Inspection has supervised and controlled services at the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary this year, as well. From the start of the festival, i.e. since Friday July 2, to Wednesday July 7, 2010, it performed 56 controls in restaurants, bars, fast refreshment stalls and hotels.

Out of these 56 controls our inspectors found infringements of laws in 27 cases, i.e. 48.21 %. In 2009, infringements of laws were discovered in 28.16 % in the period of the festival.

In restaurants and similar alimentation facilities, in total 53 controls were performed, including 24 controls with findings, i.e. 45.28%. In restaurants, the declared amount of sold drinks which stood for harming the consumer in 4 to 78 CZK per drink and in one workplace even in 297 CZK when the total price was 1803 CZK, which means that the consumer paid 2100 CZK. Another irregularity was detected in pricing offered meals and drinks, the receipt did not contain all requirements and non-certified measures were used in the restaurants and so forth. For the mentioned deficiencies, 4 fines were issued in the total amount of 2500 CZK and 11 sanctions at the inspection location in the total amount of 16,500 CZK and 9 deficiencies will be resolved in administrative proceedings.

 

Within the activity, the inspectors focused also on hotels where 3 controls were performed out of which all had deficiencies, i.e. 100%. In the hotels, accommodation services were not priced in CZK, but only in EUR. All 3 cases will be resolved in administrative proceedings.

 

„Minor deficiencies were resolved by issuing fines and sanctions at the inspection location, the more severe ones (in this case, 12 deficiencies in total) will be resolved in administrative proceedings in which much higher sanctions will be issued,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
