(Prague, October 6, 2009), the Czech Trade Inspection Authority performed inspections of market places and "buy and sell" affairs located along the borders. During these inspections, the CTIA cooperated with the Foreign police, the Customs and applicable Trade and Licensing offices.
Total of 55 inspections have been performed during the month of September on the territory of the Czech Republic. 32 fines in the total amount of CZK 35,000,- were issued right at the inspected locations, due to violation of applicable consumer protection laws. These inspections revealed inadequacies in goods pricing policies, failure to comply with applicable responsibility to provide the customer with the necessary information and finally, failure to issue relevant sales receipts. Nevertheless, these violations of applicable laws were not widespread, but due to negligence of some sellers only.
The total of 30 CTIA inspectors, 8 Foreign police officers, 3 Customs officers and 3 employees of the local Trade and Licensing office participated in these inspections.
"Violations of applicable intellectual property laws were successfully eliminated at all west Bohemian market places. However, in several cases we discovered that small violations kept occurring and therefore, we will continue with our inspection activities" said the General Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority RNDr. Jana Příhodová.
