Monitoring of market places in February 2010

(Prague, March 8, 2010) The Plzeňský and Karlovarský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority in February 2010 performed controls of market places in border regions. The Inspectorate cooperated with the Alien Police Service, Customs Office and particular Trade Licensing Offices.

In February, in total 9 inspection events were performed in the market places in border regions; within these 39 controls were performed. There was no finding of offering goods infringing intellectual property rights. On the other hand, deficiencies in pricing goods offered, in fulfilment of informational requirements and giving out proper invoice were detected. This is not any case of non-respect to legal requirements, but a case of negligence of particular sellers.

Within the number of 39 controls, 24 sanctions were issued at the inspection location in the total amount of 26.000 CZK.

“Despite the fact that in all west-bohemian market places we managed, due to systemic activities in cooperation with other state bodies, to completely minimize the offering and selling of goods infringing some intellectual property rights, we will continue in these inspection activities,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
