Mountain Bikes passed controls
On the grounds of a consumer notification claiming that some mountain bikes are not properly equipped with chain guards as stated in particular technical standard, the CTIA carried out a control action. The objective was to check whether products are in the market that could damage users’ health due to their unsuitable mechanical, physical and constructional features.
44 controls were carried out in total and bikes of various trade-marks were checked such as GHOST, MATTS, ONE-TWENTY, TUWATAWA, TOMAHAWK disc, OXIDE, HAZARD, RED-HOT, DEMA, CROSSWAY, OLPRAN, APACHE and so forth. In all the controlled mountain bikes, chain guards were in compliance with requirements of the standard EN 14766 Article 4.16.1 a 4.16.2.
