Prices at cars sellers
(Prague, May 12, 2010) The Jihočeský and Vysočina CTI Inspectorate started a control activity at cars sellers’. Within this control, inspectors focus on frequent infringements of laws in the field of correct informing on offered cars prices.

With regard to the Consumer Protection Act, the seller must provide complete information on the price, meaning that the price especially shall not evoke the appearance that the price of the offered product is lower than it really is.

And also due to the Act on Prices, the seller is obliged to provide information during the offer and sale so that the consumer has got the chance to learn about the price before negotiating about the goods price if this law does not specify differently, i.e. among others mark the goods with price valid in the moment of the offer and related to the sold units pricing and specified conditions or provide visible information via price lists or quote the price in another applicable way if it is not possible to mark the goods with the price in any of the previously mentioned ways.

The price of the product stands for the final price offer covering all taxes, customs and fees. Some sellers quote prices of offered cars without VAT. The VAT is 20%. When the offered price of cars was between 300,000 and 600,000 CZK, the price of sale was from 30 to 60 thousand CZK higher.

Within the so far performed controls, not providing annual percentage costs rate or the way of its calculation was detected within an offer of a consumer loan or mediating a contract through advertising or price offer. Annual percentage rate stands for total loan costs and enables the consumer to evaluate the advantages of the offered consumer loan.

The detected deficiencies have been resolved in administrative procedures.
