(Prague, April 29, 2010) Last year, the Czech Trade Inspection started continuously control on Internet connection providers. Provision of services in the field of Internet connection is quite new field of entrepreneur whose conditions are given especially by the Act on Electronic Communications and Amendment to Certain Related Acts supervised by the Czech Telecommunication Office.
In cooperation with the Czech Telecommunication Office, the CTI performs controls focused on abidance with obligations to inform clients about provided services prices, prices for services installation at the place of the service use, and other important information for consumers based on requirements of the Act on Electronic Communications.
The most frequent law infringement is information on price without VAT, not publishing contracts with consumers by making them available on the Internet, and last but not least, not informing about issuing claims on services and on accounting of provided services prices.
If deficiencies in the field of consumer rights are detected, the Czech Trade Inspection will take steps concerning measures to immediate redress. Subsequent measures of the business subjects are then to be checked within repeated controls so as to ensure constant problems-free relationship to the consumer.
