Sellers used the All Souls' Day
(Ostrava, November 4, 2011) What is connected with the All Souls’ Day? The memory of those who are already gone, visit to the place where they rest in peace, a candle, a flower or a wreath and a quite devotion concerning transience of life. For most entrepreneurs selling this assortment this is the time of huge profits, however there are also those who are not fair to consumers and who do not observe legal obligations. This was the reason why the inspectors of the Moravskoslezský and Olomoucký Inspectorate of the CTIA focused on the level and fairness of selling products designed to honour the All Saints’ Day. They found defects in 28 of 47 controls, banned selling of almost 300 products and imposed fines in the amount of CZK 19,500.
Within the sale of products related to the All Souls’ Day, the inspectors checked abidance with obligations provided by the Act on Consumer Protection and the Act on the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. Defects were found in 28 of 47 examined workplaces and stalls, i.e. 59.6%.

In 6 cases, sellers did not inform the consumer about products’ prices in compliance with pricing regulations; 13 sellers failed information obligations concerning products and 5 sellers did not give out bill of purchase with all defined accessories after consumers’ demands. In 7 cases, sellers used uncertified measuring tools within purchases of control. In 1 case, the purchase of control was billed incorrectly against the consumer.

Ban of further sale was issued on 289 pieces of products in the total price of CZK 44,314. Fines in the total amount of CZK 19,500 were imposed at the spot in 19 cases and ban on using 7 pieces of uncertified measuring tools was issued. Administrative proceedings will be launched with 9 checked persons.
