The CTI was also monitoring the fuel quality during February

(Prague, March 24, 2009), during the month of February 2009, the Czech Trade Inspectorate performed inspections in accordance with Rule No. 311/2006 Coll., (describing fuel regulations and gas station requirements) and in accordance with the directive No. 229/2004 Coll., (describing vehicle fuel requirements used  to operate vehicles on roads and methods of fuel inspection and monitoring). These inspections were focusing on fuel monitoring and fuel quality, sold by gas stations throughout the entire Czech Republic.

During these monitoring events, 270 fuel samples have been collected.  From that amount, only 10 samples failed to comply with applicable quality requirements.

These inspections showed us that the fuel quality, sold in the Czech Republic, is gradually improving.  Therefore, the improvement trend noted by the CTI inspectors during the month of January 2009 has been verify and confirmed. From the 114 collected samples of vehicle gasoline, only one gasoline sample (SPECIAL BA-91) failed to meet the applicable standards, due to lower amount of additive preventing valve hammering. LPG samples did not show any defects or discrepancies. From the total amount of 136 diesel fuel samples, only 9 samples failed to comply with the applicable standards. In all 9 cases the failure was caused by unsatisfactory fuel flash point.

In general, we may say that the quality of fuels sold in the Czech Republic is satisfactory and that the discovered variations from required standards were not serious.
