EVALUATION
The inspected unit: Travel adapter ZeXt: This travel adapter for power outlets 230V/50Hz“, Model AD 75, 7,5A 250V~, EAN 5903874870203 (GES 081 022 90), does not comply with safety requirements of the technical norm: ČSN IEC 60884-1:2003 + amendment 1:2004 describing regulations relevant to fork design power plugs and power outlets for household or similar use - Part 1: General requirements and ČSN IEC 884-2-5:2005, Fork design power plugs for household and similar use- Part 2: Special requirements for power adapters.
EVALUATION AND FINDINGS:
1. Insufficient product labelling
The product label specifying the nominal current is missing the word MAX, as well as the type. Product type (Model) AD 75 appears only on the packaging.
2. Protective collar of the power adapter outlet is missing.
The deviation from the required dimension does not represent a technical advantage, but negatively affects the safety and purpose of connected appliances, as described by the applicable norm. This product poses a danger of injuries by electric current, when live or dead parts of applicable electric equipment are touched during predictable use. The product does not comply with safe product requirements, mainly because it does not comply with interchange and compatibility requirements.
3. Fork plug dimensions do not comply with applicable standards
The fork plug (male part of the adapter) has safety contact to be connected with the ground pin of the outlet, but the design of the fork plug lets you insert it into outlet with side safety contacts. The distance between the end of the pin and the opening (the safety contact) is too big. The deviation from the required dimension does not represent a technical advantage, but negatively affects the safety and purpose of appliances that comply with the applicable norm, mainly because it does not comply with the interchange and compatibility requirements.
4. Accessible and exposed live parts of the associated fork plug (male part of the plug). The adapter fork with the safety contact (aperture) is not designed properly. That means that they do not connect the safety circuit first, before the actual pins of the fork that lead the current become alive. The safety requirement relevant to connectivity of protective circuits, as described in applicable norm, has not been complied with.
5. The connectivity of the outlet safety circuit with the fork plug has not been observed.
User may actually connect pin of the associated fork plug (flat fork plug 2P-2,5A, 250V, as well as fork plug with safety contact 2P+PE) with the live contact of the plug adaptor (contact aperture of the plug), while the second fork pin (pin under current) may be touched by finger. Applicable technical standards have not been complied with, as parts under current may be touched.
6. Fork plug with safety contact 2P+PE may be inserted into the adapter outlet, but the safety circuit is not connected at all. Not even when the pins of the fork plug are connected with the live contacts of the adaptor outlet. Applicable technical standards have not been complied with, as continuous connectivity of safety circuits is not ensured.
This product poses a danger of injuries by electric current, as live or dead parts of applicable electric equipment may touched during predictable use.
This product does not comply with applicable safety regulations pursuant to Rule No. Rule No. 3, Item 5, letter a), Rule No. 102/2001 Coll., describing general product safety regulations, as later amended and therefore, this product is classified as dangerous pursuant to Rule No. Rule No. 3, Item 7, of this law.
All products present in the markets are banned from sale pursuant to Rule No. 7, Item letter a), Rule No. 64/1986 Coll., the law of the Czech Trade Inspectorate, as later amended until applicable corrective measures are applied. Further, corrective measures in accordance with Rule No. 7, Item 2, letter g), Rule No. 102/2001 Coll., describing general product safety requirements, as amended, specifying that products or series of products, which were proved to be unsafe or dangerous may not be sold on the market.
