Control activities at wine festivals in Znojmo and Mikulov

(Prague, September 16, 2010) In the days of September 10 and 11, 2010, the Jihomoravský and Zlínský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed controls on stalls, workplaces with public alimentation and fast food at wine festivals in Znojmo and Mikulov.

Inspectors focused especially on correct pricing, informing on prices, following declared amounts and weights and bill information and other sellers’ obligations.

Within this 2-days control activity in Znojmo and Mikulov, the inspectors performed 49 controls in total and they detected 23 cases of infringement of laws in the field of consumer protection. In Znojmo 27 subjects were controlled in total and infringements of laws was detected in 13 cases. In Mikulov the inspectors controlled 22 subjects and found defects in 10 cases.

Among the most frequent laws infringements belonged not following declared amounts and weights, not allowing remeasuring and reweighing, not informing the consumer with the price, using uncertified measures and also not giving out any bill with all required information after consumer’s demand.

In total, 15 cases were resolved by issuing a fine at the inspection location in the total amount of CZK 18,000; 4 cases were resolved by issuing a sanction in the total amount of CZK 4,000 and 4 cases will be subjects to administrative proceedings. In 4 cases ban on using uncertified measures was issued and also ban on sale of 318 products (fancy goods) of the total amount of CZK 17 660 was issued until good making.
