Control Grand Prix on August 14 and 15, 2010

(Prague, September 10, 2010) On August 14 and 15, 2010, the Jihomoravský and Zlínský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed a two-days control activity focused on control of business subjects offering their goods or services in relation to the Motorcycle Grand Prix in Brno which is held each year as a race of World Motorcycle Championship.

Within the control activity, the inspectors performed 11 controls including 3 controls with findings of laws infringements. This means that there were 27% of findings out of the total number of controls.

On Saturday 4 inspectors performed 6 controls within the competence of the Czech Trade Inspection and found infringements of laws in 3 cases. In 2 cases the finding was resolved by issuing fines at the inspection location in the total amount CZK 2,000. This is once due to not informing on the price when the controlled person did not provide drink and meal menu to view and once another controlled person did not allow remeasuring on a certified measuring tool. In 1 case, administrative proceedings will be launched with the controlled person due to infringement of law when a receipt of sale did not contain legally required information, and due to overpricing of CZK 40.

On Sunday, 4 inspectors performed 5 controls. All of the 5 controls were without any findings of infringements of laws. A so called “halo effect” from the previous day when sellers informed one another that the Czech trade Inspection is present at the Grand Prix and that its controls are performed in the range of all the supervisory competences.
