Control - October 24, 2010 - Svatá Kateřina Marketplace

(Prague, October 25, 2010) Last Sunday, the Plzeňský and Karlovarský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection (further on referred to as the CTI) performed a common control of CTI employees and members of the Customs Office and Alien Police at the Svatá Kateřina Marketplace.

Within the performed control, inspectors CTI in cooperation with the members of the Customs Office confiscated fakes in the total amount over CZK 3,5 million. These were mostly textile goods that was illegally marked with trade-marks, e.g. Adidas,  Bench,  Lacoste, Diese , Jack Wolfskin a další.

At the marketplace, this activity is another successful event of all participating bodies; within the last control event on October 3, 2010, goods were confiscated in the amount of about CZK 3 million. A positive feature of the activity was also the fact that also traders were detected who will be issued high sanctions in administrative proceedings for dupery on consumers by offering, selling or stocking fakes.

At the same time, the CTI employees controlled also abidance with the obligations defined by the Act on Consumer Protection and for detected deficiencies in pricing of goods and other information obligations, fines were issued in the amount of CZK 11,000. „With regard to the success of the control activity and the number of detected fakes, we will subsequently continue in similar activities,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
