Fines imposed again at Chodské slavnosti
(Plzeň, August 17, 2011) The traditional festival Chodské slavnosti attracted not only its Czech fans, but also visitors from abroad. During the past weekend, stall sellers were offering regional specialities, wooden and ceramic hand-made products and music could be heard all about the place. However, inspectors of the Plzeňský and Karlovarský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority had different reasons to visit Domažlice. They wanted to check the level of provided services and seller’s fairness. Sellers of refreshment and souvenirs were the mostly controlled persons. Inspectors found defects in 12 of 20 controls. Fines at the spot were imposed to 10 sellers; other two will be fined in administrative proceedings.
Both regular and occasional sellers who came to Domažlice were checked by inspectors who checked 20 workplaces, above all refreshment stalls and sale of souvenirs, textile and shoes. Defects were found in 12 cases (i.e. 60%).

The most frequent defects were missing price tags and using uncertified measuring tools without valid certification; in some stalls bartender glass was not available. Other sellers’ infringements were for example missing information about used material and way of treating textile and shoes, giving out bills of purchase without defined information and not providing correct information about guarantee conditions.

10 fines in the total amount of CZK 19,000 were imposed due to the detected deficiencies and in 2 cases, administrative proceedings will be launched.
