Fuel quality worsened in September (Interim report from first three quarters of 2011)
(Prague, October 18, 2011) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority took totally 1,685 fuel samples in the first three quarters of 2011 and found 72 fuel samples that were not in compliance with particular standards. The highest number of nonconforming samples was in motor oil (39); in terms of other fuels, there were 16 nonconforming motor petrol samples, 9 mixed fuel samples and 4 both FAME and Ethanol 85 samples. One sixth of these samples, i.e. 12 samples were found in September. “The results of the past month have shown increase in the number of nonconforming samples and decrease of fuel quality down to 7% which is the worst result of 2011, so far,” said Jan Štěpánek, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. This year, the CTIA lawfully imposed 76 fines in the total amount of almost 11 million CZK for sale of pure quality fuels.
