INFORMATION ON DANGEROUS PRODUCT - RATTLE

(Prague. August 31, 2010) The Czech Trade Inspection discovered that in the Czech market a product is offered to consumers that is dangerous to its users, especially children.

Inspectors of the Plzeňský and Karlovarský Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection detected the appearance of these four dangerous rattle types.

The rattles’ origin is in China and based on examination, we can say that they do not meet requirements on toys safety. Small plastic balls separated after the rattles cracked when being examined in a strength text. A child is in danger of external injury by sharp edges and in case of swallowing also injury of inner organs is a threat. Moreover, the small loose balls can cause child’s suffocation in case of being swallowed.

Rattle sets did not meet requirements for being introduced to the market, as defined by the Act on Technical Requirements on Products and this is why a protective measure was issued in the meaning of prohibition on introducing the product to the market and distributing it. Subsequently, an order was issued to withdraw the product from the market.
