Observing and monitoring of fuels quality in October 2010

(Prague, November 25, 2010) In October 2010, the Czech Trade Inspection performed a regular control of fuels quality. Out of the total number of 160 samples collected in October 2010, 9 samples did not meet quality standards requirements, i.e. 5.6%.

CONTROL’S OBJECTIVE:

Observing and monitoring of fuels’ quality on the territory of the Czech Republic in accordance with the statue of the section 7, par. 2a of the law No. 311/2006 Coll., the Fuel Regulations, and notice No. 133/2010 Coll.

SUBJECTS TO CONTROL:
Fuel stations on the territory of the Czech Republic.

OBJECT OF THE CONTROL:

Collecting samples of fuels (motor petrol, motor oil, mixed fuels, bio fuels and LPG) and controlling their quality. The CTI checked abiding of rule No. 3 item 1 of the law No. 311/2006 Coll., the Fuel Regulations.

CONTROL RESULTS:

Out of total 160 samples collected in October 2010 there were 9 samples that did not meet the requirements, i.e. 5.6%.

In October, defects were detected in motor petrol samples in motor octane number (MON) and in research octane number (RON). The quality parameter “end of distillation” was unsatisfactory in 2 samples (3.2%) and “distilled content at 150°C” did not meet requirements in 1 case (1.6%).

Out of 71 samples of motor oil, 6 samples (8.5%) did not meet requirements. In 5 samples (7.0%), deviations in flash point were detected. In 1 sample (1.4%), a defect was detected in sulphur content and in the quality indicator “distillation test” (“95% distillates at temperature” and “distilled content at 350°C).

Requirements of particular quality standards were met in 20 collected samples of LPG, 3 samples of mixed fuel (SMN 30), 3 samples of compressed natural gas (CNG) and 1 sample of Ethanol E85.

Results according to the types of fuels, including detected unsatisfactory criteria, are available in the attachment No 1; the attachment No 2 contains values of unsatisfactory quality indicators and in the attachment No 3 is the overview of unsatisfactory samples with the date of collection, the No of the particular sample and marked unsatisfactory quality parameters.

In October, violating the upper acceptable level of bio ingredients’ content in fuels was not detected.

Analysis of the collected samples showed deviations in quality standards in 6 samples of motor oil and 3 samples of motor petrol. In October, there were 5.6% of samples unsatisfactory.
