Plush toy Včelí medvídci is safe
(Prague, May 25, 2011) This control action was inspired by a consumer notification. The consumer thought that the purchased toy Včelí medvídci (“Honeybee Bears”) could injure his child. The risk of injury was supposed to be in thin wires sticking out of feelers. All inspectorates were involved in the searching action and controlled totally 91 premises selling toys. The result of a laboratory examination: the toy Včelí medvídci is safe.
Over all 3 types of plush honeybee bears were detected: plush hand puppet, singing creatures and bag with singing creatures. Most of these products have only material feelers that are not stiffened by any wire. Only in one case these toys’ feelers were stiffened by a twin wire. The product was found in a workplace in the territory of the Ústecký and Liberecký Inspectorate of the CTIA and was taken to laboratory examination of its mechanical and physical features including construction and materials used.

However, the laboratory examination did not prove any risks. The toy meets all criteria defined by the act on technical requirements for this type of products.
