Stalls selling at Easter fairs

(Prague, April 8, 2010) The Moravskoslezský and Olomoucký Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection performed a control of stalls selling at Easter fairs. The goal of the controls was to check if any in of applicable legislation is violated when selling goods and providing services in the time of Easter fairs.

In the Moravskoslezský region were fairs held at the castles in Linhartovy and Kravaře and also at the Square of the Republic in Havířov. In total 13 controls were performed in these locations on stalls selling of toys assortment, refreshment, candies and decorative products. Deficiencies were detected at 11 sellers’, i.e. in 84,6 %.

 

The highest number of the sellers infringed the law by using measuring tools in non-conformity with legislation (in 5 cases in total). 3 sellers did not allow the consumer to check the amount of sold alcoholic drinks. Other sellers did not provide any written information about alcohol selling being forbidden to persons below 18; on consumer’s request they did not give out receipt on purchased products in conformity with requested data; sellers did not label the place of sell in conformity with the Trade Licensing Act and also sellers did not manage to have the sold toys marked in conformity with applicable laws.

 

For the above mentioned infringements of laws fines were issued on 5 sellers in the total amount of 3.000 CZK. Detected deficiencies at 5 sellers’ are objects to administrative proceedings.

 

With regard to continuous deficiencies’ appearance, controls with the same focus will continue within similar events,” said RNDr. Jana Příhodová, the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection.
