Discrimination – 1Q 2017

(Praha, July 28, 2017) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority monitors possible discriminative conducts in the Czech market. In the first quarter of 2017, it carried out 182 inspections to inspect if sellers comply with the prohibition to discriminate consumers within sale of products or provision of services. Suspicion of certain forms of consumer discrimination was detected in 5 cases which was 2.8% of all inspections. Consumer has the right for bill of purchase

Sellers are obliged to issue not only an “EET” document, but also a bill of purchase if a consumer asks for it. The Inspectorate of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority based in the Ústí and Liberec Regions carried out inspections at butcher shops and shops offering regional products and it focused on compliance with the Act on Consumer Protection which stipulates the trader’s obligation to issue a bill of purchase based on consumer’s request, as well as to inform about prices. Breaches of law were detected in five cases.

Chain stores sold alcohol to youth on last school day

On the last school day June 30, 2017, the Středočeský and Prague Inspectorate of the CTIA carried out a special inspection on compliance with the prohibition to sell alcoholic beverages to youth in chain stores. On this day youth are increasingly interested in the range alcoholic beverages because they want to celebrate the end of the school year. Two of three inspected chain stores sold alcohol to a youth person.
